We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy Investigator John H. Coddou, aged 50. He was assisting at a crash scene this morning when he was hit by a vehicle.
Deputy Coddou had been with the agency for 20 years and served in our Violent Crimes Unit as a Crimes Against Persons Investigator. He joined our agency as a detention officer in 2003 and became a deputy in 2005. He worked as a patrol deputy in District 4 in West Harris County.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, family, colleagues, and friends during this difficult time.
