Fire Chief Welcome

Welcome to the Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue website. We hope to reach out to the community and provide safety tips, fire prevention techniques, and useful resources.

The department has been in service since 1955, and began with the merger of 2 departments.

The men and women that make up the department are your neighbors, friends, and relatives, and are actively involved in the community. We are striving to make this a better place to work, live and raise your family.

Facilities

Sheldon Community Fire and Rescue has a long-standing commitment and history of providing a rapid response time from one of our 4 stations.

Personnel

We are staffed by personnel that consider the community and residents their home and family.

Latest News

We strive to keep the public up-to-date on what’s going on in our community. See below for the latest news from Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue.

Please join us in congratulating E/O Jimmie Mejia and E/O Andy Fernandez on becoming the newest members of the Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue Wildland Team!

Both firefighters successfully completed and passed the challenging Pack Test, demonstrating their dedication, endurance, and commitment to taking on new challenges.

Before any member joins Sheldon FD Wildland Team, the member must successful pass the Work Capacity Test, better know as the “Pack Test”. The test, also known as the ardous pack test, requires a 3-mile walk within 45 minutes while carrying a 45-pound pack.

The purpose of the test is to access the firefighter's ability to perform their assigned duties without undue fatigue or risk. They have to prove they're ready for the work before they can step onto the fire line.

Once a member is apart of the Wildland Team, they must complete and pass the test every year in order to remain credentialed as a National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) wildland firefighter.

Congratulations, gentlemen! We’re proud to have you representing Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue! 🔥
