The Surrey Township, MI Board of Trustees recently moved forward to resolve an emergency equipment shortage by approving the purchase of a replacement fire truck from Harris County Emergency Services District No. 60 (Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue). It was a 2016 Ford Mini Pumper, our Engine 333–400 gallon capacity with CAFS capability, with a 1,500 gpm Darley pump.
This decision follows a major accident earlier this year where a Surrey Township Fire Department truck was t-boned and heavily damaged by a civilian vehicle. Following the collision, the department relied on a temporary loaner truck provided by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The purchase of the truck will allow their department to permanently replace the totaled vehicle and enhance their emergency response fleet. The mini pumper should arrive at its new home by the end of the week.
