Our History
In a merger between two departments in October 1996, the Sheldon Community Fire and Rescue was established. We service a district of 80 square miles and serve a community of approximately 135,000 residents. Our department has three fire stations and a staff of around 78 members. The 80 square miles covered by our department starts at the North Sam Houston Parkway East at Lockwood Drive, south to North Channel, east to the San Jacinto River, and west to Sheridan Road.
We have a weekly firefighters’ meeting on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Fire Department business meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at Station 1. Training sessions are also hosted at Station 1.
