Fire Chief Welcome

Welcome to the Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue website. We hope to reach out to the community and provide safety tips, fire prevention techniques, and useful resources.

The department has been in service since 1955, and began with the merger of 2 departments.

The men and women that make up the department are your neighbors, friends, and relatives, and are actively involved in the community. We are striving to make this a better place to work, live and raise your family.

At Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue, with our Employee Spotlight, we aim to accomplish two things:
1. Put a face to the firefighters who serve within the community and
2. Show our great appreciation to our members within the department with a little recognition. In this spotlight we would like to introduce FF Andy Fernandez.

· A little about him: Andy Fernandez was born in Galveston but raised in Houston. Has recently got married in 2024. He has three loving dogs Dez, Mason, and Roxy.
· Hobbies: Active being outdoors, mountain biking, loves traveling with his wife and friends, and hanging out with his family
· Firefighter history: Andy has been a Firefighter since October 2023 working his way up the ranks and is a recently promoted Engine Operator on D Shift at Station Four. With a knack for problem solving and repairing just about anything. Andy has been a wonderful addition to the department.
· Before working at Sheldon: Andy worked in construction for 10 plus years. He loves the physical aspect of firefighting along with helping people in their time of need. What Andy loves about being a firefighter: “This job is extremely fulfilling answering the call when the public needs you.”
· Advice if you want to begin working as a Public Servant: “This is something you're going to dearly love, so come at it with all your passion and prepare yourself for success.
· A little message from Andy: “Teaching safety for kids is everyone’s job! Takng the time to have an exit plan for your home, teaching kids to stay low if there’s smoke to stay low, and practicing stop drop roll could be the difference”.
