Welcome to the Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue website. We hope to reach out to the community and provide safety tips, fire prevention techniques, and useful resources.
The department has been in service since 1955, and began with the merger of 2 departments.
The men and women that make up the department are your neighbors, friends, and relatives, and are actively involved in the community. We are striving to make this a better place to work, live and raise your family.

Now Accepting Applications for Full-Time Firefighters
Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue welcomes your interest in joining our duty crew team. Our department requires the following minimums to be considered for employment. You must have: Texas Commission on Fire Protection – Basic Certified Firefighter Certificate Texas Department of Health – License to practice EMT-B or higher Valid Texas Driver’s License – (Class B preferred) Failure to currently have any of the above listed items will immediately disqualify you for employment consideration. Update- 20190404
Our crews have stayed pretty busy the last 72 hrs. Beginning with the KMCO Fire on 4/2/19. Since then we have ran 3 more fires. We had an Apartment Fire in district. Thanks Channelview Fire Department for assisting us with the apartment fire. Luckily the sprinkler system extinguished the fire before our arrival. We then assisted Crosby Volunteer Fire Department with a early morning Tank Fire, and then assisted Highlands Fire Department with a Garage [...]
